National Cabinet approves the move to Level 1 restrictions
Good news!
On 8 May 2020, National Cabinet approved a move to Level 1 restrictions for dentistry.
The decision is the product of ongoing advocacy by the ADA and a close collaborative working relationship with the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) the aim of which was to get the profession back to work quickly and safely.
*** remains vigilant in its application of Level 1 restrictions and ensures the safety of our dental team, patients and the whole community.
Under Level 1 restrictions, ALL DENTAL SERVICES CAN BE PROVIDED (as long as dental practice is using standard precautions for people who do not meet epidemiological and clinical risk factors for COVID-19 infection transmission).
While the move represents a significant step toward normality, it does not yet mean dentistry is back to business as usual.
Dental Treatments under Level 1 restrictions
With level 1 restrictions, *** can provide all dental services using standard precautions for people who do not meet epidemiological and clinical risk factors for COVID-19 infection transmission.
All dental services can be provided, including:
While level 1 restrictions will take effect once the Dental Board of Australia communicates this advice to registrants, individual states and territories may still have or choose to apply restrictions higher than the Level 1 minimum to address local conditions or future outbreaks.
